Shh, you don't know this is a pumpkin

A CRAFT YOUR KIDS WILL LOVE!

Hey hey,

Halloween is creeping up (in a fun way), and I just have to share one of my favorite seasonal projects with you: the Disguise a Pumpkin Craft Activity. It’s quirky, creative, and such a great way to get kids thinking (and writing).

🎨 What is it?

This is a 9-page craft & writing packet that gives students the chance to disguise their pumpkins as anything but a pumpkin. Think: pizza pumpkin, astronaut pumpkin, ladybug pumpkin — you name it. It blends art + planning + writing in one fun activity.
It also includes:

  • An editable parent letter (PowerPoint) so you can loop families in
  • Brainstorming pages to explore disguise ideas
  • A final planning page (what materials, sketch, etc.)
  • Reflection questions
  • A blank pumpkin template with writing lines
  • Speech bubble prompts (e.g. “I’m not a pumpkin, I’m a ___”)
  • A final writing page (draw + finish a sentence)

🧩 How you could use it

  • As an in-class craft + writing center
  • As a homework or family project (send home the parent letter)
  • As a classroom display or bulletin board project
  • As an enrichment / choice activity during fall
  • Or even as a writing prompt warm-up if you adapt just the writing parts

If you’re ready to bring some playful creativity into your classroom (or home learning), you can grab it here:

P.S. Your students are going to crack up when they see each other’s disguised pumpkins.

My favorite idea so far? A “not-a-pumpkin” turned into a taco. 🌮😂 Can’t wait to hear what your kiddos come up with!
